Abstract:
An archaeological trial trench evaluation was carried out by Northamptonshire Archaeology during February 2011, comprising 54 trenches,on farmland at High Flyer Farm, Ely, Cambridgeshire. The evaluation confirmed the presence of a complex of enclosures and a droveway which had previously been suggested by geophysical survey. Settlement at the site began in the Early to Middle Iron Age with the peak of activity occurring during the 2nd to 4th centuries AD. Parts of the enclosure complex were maintained into the Saxon period.
