Abstract:		 In March 2011 an archaeological evaluation was undertaken at James Court, Reading in order to inform proposals for the redevelopment of the site. Three trial trenches and one geo-archaeological test-pit were excavated. No significant archaeological features or artefacts were present in the trial trenches and the construction of the former James Court building is likely to have extensively disturbed or destroyed any late prehistoric and later features which may have been present. The results of the geo-archaeological test-pit indicate that deposits of the Lynch Hill gravel series survive on the development site and offer the potential for recovery of artefacts of the earlier prehistoric periods.
