Abstract: |
An archaeological evaluation was undertaken on land to the south of Park Road, Diss (the former Hamlins site adjacent to the bus station) between the 12th and 15th February 2013. Several features of indeterminate date were identified, most likely to represent various drainage attempts to carry water away from the site towards the River Waveney to the south (possibly as part of the post-medieval usage of the area). A large ditch was encountered on the western side of the site, believed to be that shown on the first edition Ordnance Survey map of the area, which appears to have been a wholly modern feature with C19th china, bottle glass and metalwork found at the base of the feature. |
