Abstract: |
The Desk-Based Appraisal showed the enclosure of the existing field from six enclosures on the 1840 tithe map to four on the 1890 Ordnance Survey 1st Edition map. The field system was further enclosed in the 20th century to form the single large field that contains the site. The archaeological monitoring identified six linear features that equate to four ditches that corresponded to- or are associated with historical/post-medieval field boundaries represented on the 1840 tithe map and 1905 Ordnance Survey 2nd Edition map. These boundaries go out of use in the 20th century. A single residual flint flake was also recovered from one of these ditches. |
