Abstract: |
A programme of archaeological trial trenching was carried out in order to satisfy a condition of the planning consent for a development at Lamer Street, Dunbar, East Lothian. The evaluation covered an area of ground bounded by recent development to three sides and the sea wall and beach to the E. The trial trenching comprised 3 trenches totalling 65 linear m. These trenches revealed a stone-lined culvert to the S end of the development area, sealed beneath a layer of re-deposited sand on average 0.5m deep. To the NE corner of the site the remains of a stone wall associated with a 19th century buildings were also exposed. No other features or artefacts of archaeological significance were revealed during this work. |
