Abstract: |
The evaluation revealed archaeological remains of early-middle Iron Age, Roman and medieval periods. The medieval remains consisted of furrows, widely distributed across the development area. The evidence for activity in the Roman period comprised two parallel ditches and a possible hearth, which contained large amounts of fired clay and charcoal. The most significant archaeological remains were those dating from the early-middle Iron Age period. These were located along the eastern edge of the south field. They represented the remains of a small rural farmstead situated within ditched enclosures. The ditches corresponded to those identified by the geophysical survey. [Au(abr)] |
