Abstract: |
Routine Enhanced level survey of the shell of the former Bridghouse Mill situated on the banks of the Lynne Water, West Linton. The survey includied a fabric survey supported by comprehensive photographic record. The mill's architectural character would suggest a date inthe early 18th century for its construction, this is supported by historical records. The building was rebuilt in the 19th century. The survey evidence suggets two phases of water power at the mill with a wheel originally on the north gable. The mill was converted with a wheel and wheel house on its west-facing side elevation. Two Hurst frame pliths were found adjacent to a blocked opening. |
