Abstract: An evaluation was carried out at the proposed site of an extension to a hotel. A Roman villa, possible prehistoric burials, pottery and animal bones had been recorded in the area in antiquity. During the evaluation, evidence of early Romano-British activity was revealed on part of the site. Features included pits, post holes, a gully and a boundary ditch. Pottery, dating from 50-150 AD, indicated that the site had been of low status. [Au(adp)]
