Abstract:		 An archaeological walk-over survey and desk-based assessment was undertaken on land west of Callerton Lane, in Ponteland, northumberland, in advance of a proposed housing development comprising the erection of up to 178 dwellings, as well as retail, food and drink, and other services. The archaeological works were undertaken in advance of planning, and were undertaken between the 27th and 28th of October 2015. Through the analysis of the available historical records, historic and current aerial images, and a thorough and detailed cartographic regression, the DBA identified a total of seven possible cultural heritage sites within the boundaries of the development. Three of these sites were located during the walk-over survey (all of varying cultural heritage significance), with no further sites recorded. Further investigation was recommended to properly assess the buried heritage on-site prior to any development works taking place.
