Abstract: |
Northamptonshire Archaeology carried out an archaeological trial trench evaluation on land proposed for housing, at the former Bendyshe Farm, Bottisham, Cambridgeshire. The evaluation identified pits, ditches, postholes and a well to the north-west of a medieval moat. In addition there were the remains of two chalk block walls and a chalk cobbled surface in the north-east of the site. Some of the ditches are dated to the late 9th century or later, whilst the larger rubbish pits contained 19th century pottery. Finds include Saxon, medieval and post-medieval pottery, roof tile, brick, metal and a polished stone. |
