Abstract: |
recording at Choir House, King's School, Worcester when refurbishments and alterations were being carried out. The fieldwork took place between August 2000 to September 2001. A series of trenches in the yard of Choir House revealed that most of the area had been previously disturbed. Widespread deposits of ash, pottery and kiln furniture of post-medieval date was found to have been used to make up the surface of the yard. Only unstratified pieces of medieval pottery were recovered during the observation of work in this area. A photographic and drawn record of part of the former priory precinct wall that bound the school yard was also carried out. In the yard of 2 College Green a trench was excavated for the renewal of a foul sewer connection. Evidence of a stone surface approximately 1.50 metres below the current ground surface was found in situ. |
