Abstract:		 In October 2010, Northamptonshire Archaeology undertook a geophysical survey and trial trench evaluation of land north of Church Stowe, Northamptonshire. The work was carried out in response to the submission of planning proposals for the formation of a lake/field pond. The geophysical survey identified several anomalies in the northern development part of the site, which were shown by subsequence trial trenching to be of geological origin, although evidence of land clearance in the form of isolated tree throws, were found. One tree throw contained a quantity of prehistoric pottery and charcoal.
