Abstract: |
An archaeological evaluation was undertaken between 30th November 2015 and 29th January 2016, at land north of Blackdog, Aberdeenshire. Based upon the Written Scheme of Investigation (Cameron 2015), it was agreed the site was subject to 7%-10% stripping of topsoil to investigate the potential for archaeological remains or features. This work took the form of machine excavator trenching with a toothless bucket in conjunction with hand-excavation for closer inspection of potential archaeological deposits. While 69 prehistoric flints, including at least one flint tool, were recovered within the heavily ploughed topsoil zone, no archaeological features were identified within the underlying subsoil. |
