Abstract:		 An archaeological watching brief was undertaken in three phases, in April, June and July 2008, by Archaeological Research Services Ltd on behalf of Mr A. Balderson on land behind 13 - 19 Market Street, Eckington, Derbyshire (National Grid Reference SK43081 79452). The project was undertaken during the excavation of test pits by Eastwood and Partners Ltd to investigate contamination of the site, removal of hydrocarbon contamination and excavation of foundations for the construction of six dwellings on the site. All of the ground works were observed by an archaeologist. No significant archaeological features were encountered.
