Abstract: |
Wessex Archaeology was commissioned by Parsons Brinckerhoff on behalf of Devon County Council, to continue the programme of geophysical survey that had been previously undertaken by Wessex Archaeology prior to the construction of Exeter Science Park. The survey was an extension of the detailed gradiometer survey previously carried out. Again, a Bartington Grad601-2 dual fluxgate gradiometer system was used. Several clusters of closely distributed anomalies are thought to be archaeological in origin and may indicate further field systems to those found in the previous phase of survey. However it is possible that they relate to settlement activity. Numerous linear trends can be seen which are on similar orientations to the more obvious field systems and are thought to represent further phases of fields or associated with ploughing trends. |
