Abstract: |
When the fieldwalking took place (23/10/11) conditions were not good; the crop was already growing and the soil was very dry. The finds were disappointing. More medieval finds would have been expected. Most finds were probably the result of manuring - 12 sherds of medieval pottery and 35 of post-medieval/modern, as well as clay pipe etc. In addition there were 4 sherds of Roman pottery and 5 pieces of worked flint. Metal detecting (08/11/11) recovered 8 objects including a mid C17th cuff link button commemorating the Restoration of Charles II and an C18th 'Dandy' button. |
