Abstract: |
An archaeological strip, plan and sample excavation was undertaken November 2015 by University of Leicester Archaeological Services on behalf of Mulberry Property Developments Ltd. on land at Manor Farm, Main Street, Tugby, Leicestershire. The fieldwork was undertaken following demolition of the manor house and attendant building survey prior to construction of residential properties. The archaeological strip, plan and sample excavation provided supplementary constructional details of the manor house, including evidence for a fireplace and beamslots and limited pre-building archaeological activity on the site. Post-medieval window masonry fragments from the fabric of a modern drain indicate post-medieval modifications to the building subsequent to its c.1505 construction date |
