Abstract: |
An archaeological watching brief was carried out by University of Leicester Archaeological Services (ULAS) during ground-works on land off North Street, Ashby-de-la-Zouch, Leicestershire (SK 358 168). The work was commissioned by Lychgate Homes Ltd. and was carried out during the construction of a new building on the site. Overburden stripping of the site and the excavation of two foundation trenches were observed. The stratigraphical sequence consisted of dark topsoil containing demolition rubble overlying sandstone and clay. No archaeological features were observed and no finds associated with archaeological features were retrieved during the ground-works. The archive for the site will be deposited with Leicestershire Museums under the accession number X.A22.2015. |
