Abstract: |
York Archaeological Trust undertook a watching brief at Kent Street, York. The objective was to record any deposits, features or buried structures exposed during works associated with the opening of a 1.25m deep hydrant pit (2.6m l, 1.1m w) and a utilities trench to the same depth but 0.5m wide on the north side of the street opposite the entrance to the Barbican Car Park, running west for c.30 m from that point, turning and crossing Kent Street at a 45 degree angle and meeting up with an earlier services trench on the south side of Kent Street. The site lies within the City of York Area of Archaeological Importance. |
