Abstract: |
A standing building survey was carried out. The site comprises a multiphased, L-shaped, two storey building. The survey the survey focused on the ground floor structure of the main east-west orientated section of the building; from Water Lane in the east to the main bridging beam located above the River Itchen to the west. The purpose of the survey was to make a record of the timber-frame structure prior to a conservation project which will require the replacement of a number of joists and strengthening to the main beams. The survey revealed the flooring was composed of a mixture of 18th century timbers and quite a few earlier reused timbers. |
