Abstract:
Wessex Archaeology was commissioned by Scottish and Southern Power plc (through Bruton Knowles) to undertake an archaeological watching brief and advance excavation of post settings during the refurbishment of the 33000 volt (33Kv) overhead supply line from Headington to Bicester, in Oxfordshire. The refurbishment route passed close to, and indeed through, several sites of archaeological interest as identified by the Oxfordshire County Archaeological Services.
