Abstract: |
Archaeological monitoring during the excavation of the footing for a new extension on the north side of The Manor House, Thorpe in Balne, revealed an undated wall foundation previously revealed in the evaluation and rubble from which later post-medieval pottery was recovered, suggesting this deposit relates to the demolition of the medieval manor house which stood here and the construction of the post-medieval building (also demolished c.1987). The site lies within the scheduled Thorpe in Balne moated complex. |
