Abstract: |
From May 1st to May 3rd, 2019, an 8% archaeological evaluation (out of a targeted 7-10%) was carried out at the proposed site of Mackie Village, immediately NNW of Stonehaven, Aberdeenshire and located east of the A957 Slug Road/A90 intersection. The western portion of the soils strip area revealed the edge of the former sand and gravel operations, while the remainder of the site consisted of a mottled clay/loam subsoil with sporadic pockets of modern debris, such as rope and plastics, most likely from infill or levelling associated with the former quarry operation. No archaeological finds or features were noted and it is therefore recommended that no other archaeological mitigation is deemed necessary during the current planning application. |
