Abstract: |
The building recording was solely for the ground floor of the property which is to be converted from a shop to a residential dwelling per the planning application. The property, a Grade II Listed building, was built in 1790. Alterations were made to the building during the 19th century and the store frontage added in the 20th century. Further works to alter the upper floors and the ground floor occurred during the early 21st century. During works to convert the ground floor retail area to a residential dwelling the removal of the lath and plaster ceiling, as well as internal ply board, exposed the remains of original features. This included the location of a dividing wall for the 18th century layout of the reception rooms, original brickwork and a section of skirting board, and the remains of a chimney breast and hearth. |
