Abstract: |
The watching brief, consisting of the monitoring of the excavation of 23 foundation trenches (Trenches 20 to 42), was carried out during construction works in the west part of the existing Canning Flex Warehouse. The watching brief identified modern made ground underlined by natural brickearth and gravels. Similarly to the other archaeological investigation carried out across the site in 2018, this watching brief demonstrate that the upper horizon such as the brickearth underwent substantial truncation during the 20th century. Despite the partial survival of some of the Pleistocene brickearth, this did not produce any archaeological evidence for any activity on site related to any archaeological periods. |
