Abstract: |
Six test pits were dug by hand by York Archaeological Trust (two on Chantry Lane, two in the garden of The Chantry, and two in the grounds of the Archbishop's Palace) to assess archaeological deposits, ground conditions and the location of tree roots ahead of the Environment Agency's York Flood Alleviation Scheme work in Bishopthorpe Flood Cell - C1. No archaeological deposits were found, and no finds of archaeological significance were recovered. |
