Abstract: |
An archaeological evaluation was carried out within Zone L, Beaulieu, Chelmsford. The fieldwork took place between the 13/08/16 and the 23/09/16. A total of nine trenches were excavated within the proposed development area. One undated ditch on a north-west to south-east alignment was encountered in the south-eastern part of the development area. This ditch is on the same alignment as other ditches revealed by archaeological works across the wider development area and is thought to be part of a co-axial fields system of medieval date. Two other ditches are likely to be remnant evidence for ridge and furrow. |
