Abstract: |
As part of the London Gateway Port archaeological mitigation strategy Archaeological Exclusion Zones (AEZ) were implemented around sites of special archaeological interest, and monitored during clearance and dredging operations (LG Archaeological Methods and Procedures). Three sites identified prior to the commencement of dredging operations requiring such AEZ's: the King (5019), London (5029), and the Iron Bar Wreck (5020). This document provides a rational for the AEZs and describes the general principles of the monitoring regime that will be implemented for all three sites. The specific extents of the AEZ and the specific details of the monitoring regimes for individual sites are described in Appendices I to III. Details of the Locations, site histories, investigations to date, and the full mitigation strategies adopted for these sites is documented in their individual Clearance Mitigation Statements (CMS). |
