Abstract: |
Work on new lift pit, pumping station pit and drainage run was monitored. Archaeological deposits and features consisting of a Roman soak-away and an 18th-century cesspit, which had been heavily truncated by Victorian foundations were excavated in the lift/pump station pit. A medieval deposit and two medieval chalk foundations were observed during the watching brief for the drainage channel. The highest survival of archaeological deposits occurred at 9.86m OD. |
