Abstract: |
In January 2017, Wardell Armstrong (WA) were invited by Waterloo Housing Group, to undertake an archaeological field evaluation on land adjacent to 2440 Stratford Road, Hockley Heath, Solihull. This was in advance of the proposed development of new domestic housing. The area occupies a previously un-developed area of pasture land within a village landscape, south of the centre of the small village of Hockley Heath. The archaeological evaluation consisted of five trenches that revealed post-medieval remains. Ditches associated with occupation to the north of the site were identified in Trench 1, and a ditch that is believed to have formed the parish boundary between Nuthurst and Lapworth was identified in Trenches 2 and 4.
