Abstract: |
An archaeological trial-trench evaluation was carried out on land south of Glenboig, North Lanarkshire, in response to a condition on the planning application for development of the site. Trial trenching of 62 trenches amounting to 3092m linear revealed evidence for post-medieval/19th century agricultural activity in the form of plough furrows and drainage. Also a few larger pits were revealed filled with 20th century waste, believed to be small clay quarries and/or clay prospecting pits associated with the Glenboig brick works located just to the north-east of the site. |
