Abstract: |
The scheme comprised the construction of an off-line storage pipeline for surface water, and associated pumping station, rising main, valves and manholes. Archaeological monitoring was recommended following the results of a rapid appraisal of the scheme, undertaken by South Yorkshire Archaeology Service, which showed that the site was located at the edge of Hatfield Moor, an area of international importance due to the previous discovery of prehistoric remains including a wooden trackway and settlement activity. No archaeology was encountered. |
