Abstract: |
an archaeological trial trench evaluation on land east of Rose Cottage, Blue Row, Wark-on-Tweed, Northumberland. The evaluation has confirmed the presence of complex, well-preserved stratified archaeological. The remains of medieval and post-medieval date found surviving across much of the central and northwestern parts of the site, including structures (one probably a medieval smithy), surfaces and cut features. These deposits are generally sealed by a considerable accumulation of medieval and post-medieval soil layers which have served to protect them from later use of the site for agriculture, gardens and housing. |
