Abstract: |
Wessex Archaeology was commissioned by Bell Cornwell Partnership, on behalf of Bishop Wordsworth's Grammar to undertake an archaeological watching brief during the excavation of awning foundations, at Bishop Wordsworth's School, Salisbury. The watching brief was carried out as a condition of planning permission (20/04558/FUL). Despite the presence of medieval and post-medieval remains across the site, no archaeological features or deposits were observed during the course of the watching brief. The soil matrix found within the trenches confirms the stratigraphy reported during earlier works, with modern layers comprising the majority of the excavated material. |
