Abstract:		 An archaeological watching brief was carried out at 4 Hastings Road, Battle, East Sussex to monitor ground reductions and excavation of footings trenches for an extension to the existing house. No archaeological features or deposits were recorded, and a small finds assemblage, dated to the 19th century, is likely to be associated with the existing building, and with the 18th century cottages to the east.
