Abstract: |
Headland Archaeology Ltd was commissioned to conduct a programme of archaeological investigation at Radwell Grange Barn, Bladock, Hertfordshire associated with the redevelopment of the site. Historic Building recording of the extant barns identified four phases of development beginning in the 17th century and continuing into late 20th century. Monitoring of groundworks for the redevelopment revealed no archaeological remains. Monitoring of test-pits and groundworks demonstrated that the development area has been subject to significant ground reduction undertaken to level the ground for the construction of the barns. It is likely that these activities would have removed sub-surface archaeology or any earlier phases of the barns that may have been present. |
