Abstract: |
A programme of historic building recording was carried out by Colchester Archaeological Trust at the Bricklayers Arms, 61 Hadham Road, Bishops Stortford, Hertfordshire in April 2018. The Bricklayers Arms was constructed in the mid-19th century. It has three extensions, two constructed in the late 19th century and one in the 1960s. Extensive alteration to both the interior and exterior has removed almost all original features in the pub, although an original door remains on the first-floor. The Bricklayers Arms was constructed to provide a place of refreshment for the workers at the nearby brickworks, from which it received its name. |
