Abstract: |
Excavation exposed the remains of Swarkestone Windmill, a brick-built tower mill recorded as new in the late 18th century. The fieldwork revealed the entire circuit of walls, with stone walls faced with brick on the south side still four to five courses high. External floor surfaces were also recorded, along with floors and foundations of associated outbuildings. Although there were no finds specifically associated with the windmill's use, a large assemblages of late 19th to 20th century domestic material was recovered. |
