Abstract: |
The area under investigation, by Northamptonshire Archaeology, at Cranford St Andrew Rectory, Northampton, appears to have simply been the eastern part of the plot in which the Rectory stands. Though a high brick and stone wall runs along the eastern boundary, there is no evidence from historic maps or from the structure and layout of the area to imply that it was historically a walled garden. The wall is likely to have been built to screen the property from the adjacent road. |
