Abstract: |
In November 2020 Eden Heritage Ltd was commissioned by Mr Alistair Wannop to undertake an archaeological desk-based assessment and geophysical survey focusing on land at Eden Golf Course, Crosby-on-Eden, Cumbria (Ordnance Survey grid reference: NY 4660 5928). The assessment was undertaken to help inform a future planning application for a proposed holiday lodge development at the site. The geophysical survey confirmed the presence of archaeological features associated with Crosby Enclosure and Field System on the southwest side of the proposed development area. An almost square enclosure divided into four quadrants, was identified by the survey, which is overlain by ridge and furrow of possible medieval date and truncated by the field boundary to the southeast. |
