Abstract: |
An archaeological watching brief was undertaken as part of a water main renewal scheme, which ran along a road between High Bottoms (SE 169 803) and Gollinglith Foot (SE 154 810), on the north side of the dale. The majority of the renewal scheme ran within the existing road verge, and was therefore not monitored. Three launch and reception pits were however monitored to the east of Pasture House as this crossed the course of an 18th century mill race which ran to Healey Corn Mill. No evidence for the mill race was encountered within any of the three excavated launch and reception pits, nor were any other archaeological features or deposits. |
