Abstract:
HER search, NHLE download, site visit, historic map regression, LiDAR and aerial photograph analysis, local archives, Portable Antiquities Scheme data, published and unpublished reports There are no designated and 29 non-designated heritage assets within the Site boundary, dating from the Mesolithic to Modern periods. Twenty-seven of the assets within the Site were identified during the course of the DBA and include the sites of or extant Post-Medieval or Modern ponds, buildings (farmhouses and agricultural, buildings), wells, field boundaries and trackways. The below-ground remains of the Medieval or earlier Iwade/Lower Halstow parish boundary may also run through the Site. Overall, the Site appears to have been largely undeveloped and/or agricultural throughout its history. Within the Site, there was assessed to be low potential for previously unknown remains of Palaeolithic, Neolithic and Modern date; low-medium potential for previously unknown remains of Mesolithic date; medium potential for previously unknown remains of Early Medieavl - Post-Medieval date; medium-high potential for previously unknown remains of Bronze Age - Romano-British date; and high potential for palaeoenvironmental remains. No settings impacts by the proposed development were identified.
