Abstract:
Area excavation Bramford, Clarice House, Bramford Road (BRF 181, TM 1309 4621) Following an evaluation that identified some features of medieval date (by Cotswold Archaeology) three areas between service trenches were opened for excavation at a site at the junction of Bramford Lane and Bramford Road. Two of the areas were blank but one did reveal more of a ditch seen in the evaluation in addition to a pair of pits of medieval date and a large irregular feature of probable natural origin. This site is suggested as a back-plot area for a small low status settlement of 11th/12th to 14th century date at the junction of two historic route ways.
