Celebrating Archaeological Archives: CIfA Archaeological Archives Group Conference and AGM

We are excited to announce the upcoming CIfA “Celebrating Archaeological Archives” conference in September 2024.

The Chartered Institute for Archaeologists (CIfA) Archaeological Archives Group (AAG) is hosting its annual day conference and AGM on September 26th, 2024, at the Northamptonshire Archaeological Resource Centre (ARC) in Wellingborough, Northamptonshire. As we reported back at the end of May, the AAG put out a call for papers on this theme, and we’re thrilled to see this exciting final program. This year’s focus, “Celebrating Archaeological Archives,” aims to highlight the importance of archives within the archaeological profession.

The conference will feature a diverse range of speakers presenting on topics such as the purpose of archiving, innovative display techniques, community engagement, and the use of archaeological collections in research. Presentations will showcase case studies from various institutions, including the Potteries Museum & Art Gallery, York Archaeology, and the Pitt Rivers Museum. It provides an excellent opportunity for professionals and students to network, share knowledge, and celebrate the vital role of archives in preserving our archaeological heritage.
