Over the past 20 years the ADS has participated in many collaborations and research projects. From providing additional funding to ensuring we are at the centre of the latest IT applications, our Research and Development team plays a key role in the work of the ADS.
Current focuses of projects the ADS are involved in include AI, Digital Twins, improving access, and creative re-use. These projects, with European partners in particular, have facilitated our international leadership and has allowed us to build up long- lasting collaborations with key heritage bodies and research organisations.
In 2024-25 our success in winning EU funding meant that we are currently managing six concurrent international collaborative research projects. This milestone did not go unnoticed by UKRI who came to York in March 2025 to film a promotional video on the value of Horizon Europe funding to the UK, featuring ADS as their case study.
