ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Martijn van Leusen studied prehistory and classical archaeology at the University of Amsterdam, and since 1989, he has specialised in research and application of GIS to archaeology. From 1994 to 1997, he was part of the award-winning Wroxeter Hinterland Project at the University of Birmingham Field Archaeology Unit. Afterwards he moved to the University of Groningen where he is working on a PhD thesis concerning the development of protohistoric Italian society. Martijn also maintains and develops ARGE, the virtual library for European Archaeology, with Sara Champion of the University of Southampton.
