Historic Environment Research Archives, Links and Data (HERALD) was the name given to the redevelopment of OASIS, a data capture form through which archaeological and heritage practitioners can provide information about their investigations to local Historic Environment Records (HERs), Museums and Archives, and National Heritage Bodies.
Funds for the redevelopment project(s) were provided by Historic England, as a key part of the Heritage Information Access Strategy (HIAS) programme, and Historic Environment Scotland to support reporting to Archaeology Scotland’s annual summary of fieldwork: Discovery and excavation in Scotland.
The redeveloped system (called OASIS V) was launched in England in Autumn 2020, and a Scottish specific version in Summer 2022.
