The archive is principally composed of photographs, plans, and documents from the 1968-80 excavations, with additional material including reports from the 21st-century investigations, antiquarian photographs and illustrations, and photographs, plans, and documents associated with the excavation of the cruck building in the 1990s. It is structured chronologically, with the bulk of the 1968-80 excavations arranged by season and additional material divided into chronological folders within an overall project file. Highlights include:

• Extensive photographs relating to the 1968-80 excavations
• Original site notebooks from the 1968-80 excavations, including sketch plans
• Antiquarian photographs of Sheffield Manor Lodge from the 19th and early 20th centuries
• Appeal for volunteers for the 1976 season
