| Description | The following summary is an interim report on the results of the trial holes. A full assessment report that includes osteological assessment and an evaluation of the contribution to specific research objectives is in preparation and will be submitted in due course. The results of the trial holes will also feed into the preparation of the design for the Cardington Street mitigation phase. |

| Description | This Project Plan details proposed methodologies, techniques and deliverables for Site Investigation (SI) works within Cardington Street, Euston, London (hereafter referred to as ‘the Site’) (Fig 1). These works will entail the excavation of four trial pits: two to locate utilities and two to assess the location and extent any archaeological remains within Cardington Street. A Project Plan for archaeological evaluation and enabling works on the former site of St James’s Gardens burial ground, adjacent to Cardington Street, has been submitted and has informed the methodologies and scope outlined in this document. The methodology has been prepared in response to the Generic Written Scheme of Investigation: Historic Environment Research Delivery Strategy (GWSI: HERDS) Specific Objectives, the HS2 Burial Grounds, Human Remains and Monuments Procedure and The Burials Objectives and Approach as relevant to this scope of works. |
