| Title | Walltown Crags, Hadrian's Wall, October 2020:WTC20, excavations across the Wall |
| Description | WallCAP staff undertook excavations at Walltown Crags (NGR NY 67655 66573) over 8 days, from 19-28 October 2020. A 3D laser scan of this stretch of Wall was completed prior to excavation. Two trenches were opened. Trench 1 ran across the Wall, measuring 5m N-S and 1.5m wide on the south side of the Wall and widening to 2m wide on the north side of the Wall. Trench 2 was 2m square and lay across the Edwardian bank and ditch south of the Wall. Both trenches were excavated down to undisturbed soil or bedrock. |
